What is Pilates

Think core strength, flexibility and mind-body awareness. If that sounds like your kind of thing, let us introduce you to Pilates, a form of exercise that focuses on a strong, balanced body. Pilates builds your strength organically – using exercises derived from the ways we naturally move. Regardless of your fitness level, Pilates is always challenging. That’s because it puts specific emphasis on the body’s core. If you want to build a healthy body from inside out, you’re in the right place.

New to Pilates – come a little early if you want … if you’re a first-timer, come in a few minutes early to fill out some paperwork and get to know the studio.

No shoes, no problem. Pilates is not for the foot-phobic. We exercise barefoot, so leave your shoes and socks with your belongings. That said, we welcome tread socks if you prefer. As for the rest of your attire, think stretchy and fitted. A good pair of yoga pants or leggings with Lycra are perfect for Pilates. Choose clothing that is comfortable and exercise-friendly. Keep your tops fitted or semi-fitted so your instructors can keep an eye on your form and alignment.

Be talkative. Your instructor is there to make sure you get the most out of your Pilates session, so feel free to chat her up. Tell your instructor about any medical conditions, injuries, pregnancies or other issues that could limit your ability to exercise. This will help your instructor modify movements appropriately for you.

Disconnect. The beauty of our studio is that it allows you to exercise and rehabilitate in a calm, tranquil environment.

Massage is the manipulation of superficial and deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue using various techniques, to enhance function, aid in the healing process, decrease muscle reflex activity, inhibit motor-neuron excitability, promote relaxation and well-being, and as a recreational activity. Massage involves working and acting on the body with pressure – structured, unstructured, stationary, or moving – tension, motion, or vibration, done manually or with mechanical aids. Target tissues may include muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, skin, joints, or other connective tissue, as well as lymphatic vessels, or organs of the gastrointestinal systems. Massage can be applied with the hands, fingers, elbows, knees, forearm, feet, or a massage device.

Facial is a very general term for skin treatments performed by a licensed aesthetician. As the name implies, it is skin treatment for the face, though you may be lucky and get some neck or shoulder massage. There are a variety of types of facials, different types of products used, and there can be some variation in length. The typical extensive facial generally lasts about an hour. You might also spend some time with hot cloths or your face, and the aesthetician may devote a little time to finding the products that best work with your skin.

The basic goals of facials are the same regardless of treatment, and you can expect the following things to occur when you have one:

  • The skin will be thoroughly cleansed and dead skin cells will be exfoliated.
  • The aesthetician will likely evaluate your skin type and find treatments that will best tone and moisturizer that type.
  • You may have extraction of blackheads.
  • You will likely have a skin mask treatment. You may have some degree of facial massage with applications of various creams and moisturizers.

Facial Add Ons

Galvanic Facial Treatment involves the use of electric currents to rejuvenate and stimulate the skin. This treatment helps to facilitate the transport of important nutrients into the skin to improve circulation, cleansing, radiance and hydration.

High Frequency Facial is a skin care treatment is used by professionals to help treat and prevent stubborn acne, shrink enlarged pores, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, decongest puffy eyes, fade dark eye circles, rejuvenate the condition of the scalp and nourish hair follicles for healthier hair growth.

Ultrasonic facial treatments cleanse, repair and stimulate the skin. The ultrasonic facial is a medically proven treatment that uses ultrasound to loosen and remove dead skin cells and restores the natural electrical charge to cells.

Glycolic peel is a chemical peel that can reduce fine lines, soften rough skin, dry out blemishes, and lighten irregular pigmentation. This peel is used to decrease the appearance of oily, blemish-prone skin impacted by whiteheads, blackheads, papules and pustules. It provides an exfoliating effect and leaves skin glowing after one treatment.

Diamond Microdermabrasion This facial involves deep exfoliation with a diamond tipped medical microdermabrasion treatment and lovely skin infusions. Results are immediate after this facial. Skin looks and feels soft and smooth, and enlarged pores and laughter lines are less prominent.

Oxygen Facial Infusion uses pure oxygen and a moisturizing serum to plump the face and promotes skin health and recovery. The effect of the natural oxygen and serums transforms the skins appearance.

Dermaplaning a safe and highly effective physical exfoliation procedure. It requires the use of a sterile, surgical scalpel to gently “shave” the skin’s surface, removing the top-most layer of dead skin along with fine, vellus hair (aka peach fuzz). The procedure can be performed monthly, in less than thirty minutes, with no downtime post-treatment. Physical exfoliation triggers the cell regeneration process and allows products to better penetrate skin. Dermaplaning is especially effective on those with dry or rough skin texture and helps to minimize superficial acne scarring or uneven skin tone. It is also beneficial for mature skin, which tends to have a buildup of dead cells as cellular turnover slows down with age.
Waxing is a form of semi-permanent hair removal which removes the hair from the root. New hair will not grow back in the previously waxed area for four to six weeks, although some people will start to see regrowth in only a week due to some of their hair being on a different growth cycle.. Almost any area of the body can be waxed, including eyebrows, face, pubic area, legs, arms, back, abdomen and feet. There are many benefits to waxing versus other forms of hair removal. It is an effective method to remove large amounts of hair at one time. It is a long-lasting method. Hair in waxed areas will not grow back for two to eight weeks. When hair is shaved or removed by depilatory cream, the hair is removed at the surface rather than the root. Within a few days, the hair can be seen at the surface. With these methods, hair tends to grow back as a rough stubble. Areas that are repeatedly waxed over long periods of time often exhibit regrowth that is softer. If you are looking for Waxing or other Beauty Treatments

To top off the treatment, we apply a dark lash tint which really makes your lashes look more prominent. The procedure takes about 60 minutes. It really is an easy way to instantly brighten and open up the eye area!
